And a youthful, diverse population ensures that the nightlife is first-rate, with everything from tranquil, traditional beer halls to pumping techno clubs on offer.

If you really feel like treating yourself, there’s also a chic restaurant and cocktail lounge on the 53rd floor, where you can marvel at the skyline with an expertly-mixed drink in hand. If you’re struggling to pick between the bewildering number of museums on offer, The Städel is a great place to start. If you’re traveling with kids, a trip to the Naturmuseum Senckenberg is sure to go down a treat. It’s one of Germany’s largest natural history museums, with an amazing collection of dinosaur fossils, and an equally enthralling display of stuffed birds.
